Magic Radio has signed international recording artist, actor and presenter Ronan Keating to host a brand new flagship weekday breakfast show alongside award winning broadcaster Harriet Scott.
Having hosted shows for Magic in recent months, Ronan will become a permanent fixture at the station as he becomes a full time radio presenter for the first time. He is set to join a presenter roster which includes writer and presenter Mel Giedroyc and world-famous singers Rick Astley, Kim Wilde and Melanie C.
Ronan’s co-host Harriet Scott boasts an acclaimed and award winning radio career and joined Magic Radio at the start of 2016 to host the Weekend Breakfast Show.
The Magic Radio brand, which has 66% of its listening via a digital platform, targets a core audience of 35-55 year olds and has recently conducted insight into this audience coining them The Luminaries. This discovered a vibrant, active audience living life in full colour and re-writing the rule book. This insight has informed the evolution of the Magic brand with exciting changes which includes a refreshed music position, new talent signings – the centre-piece of which is Ronan Keating – and new events such as Magic at the Musicals and The Magic of Christmas, plus the creation of the Magic Network with brand extensions Mellow Magic and Magic Chilled, both digital-only stations.
Tony Moorey, Magic Radio Content Director said “Ronan and Harriet are the perfect pairing for Magic breakfast. He’s an internationally famous singer and presenter, she’s an incredible, award-winning radio broadcaster and together they share a fantastic mix of humour, a passion for those huge songs our listeners love and a genuine talent of creating entertaining shows for the audience.”
Ronan Keating said “I can’t wait to get started with the new Magic Breakfast show. We’ll make sure you get the perfect start to your day with plenty of laughs, and all the songs you love”.
Harriet Scott said “Sitting alongside Ronan is going to be a great way to start the day. I’m really excited to be launching this brand new show; it’s going to be a huge amount of fun and I can’t wait to get started.”
The station will also boast a new look daytime schedule, with current Magic in the Morning host Nick Snaith hosting a brand new 10am to 2pm show, whilst a new weekend breakfast host will be announced soon. The changes see current daytime presenter Gary Vincent leave the station, with the team thanking Gary for well over a decade shows for the station.
Magic Breakfast with Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott will launch later in the year.
