Global has today announced the launch of five brand-new radio stations nationally on DAB digital radio and on Global Player, over the next week.
The media & entertainment group will launch one station each day, starting tomorrow, followed by one on Friday, one on Monday and two more new stations on Tuesday. The new stations are part of Global’s brand-led strategy and will all sit within one of Global’s seven main brands and be focused on a particular era or genre of music.
The first new station to launch is Heart 90s, dedicated to the greatest feel good anthems from the 90s, available across the UK from 6am on Thursday 29th August. Heart 90s will bring listeners the biggest feel good 90s tunes from artists including Take That, Spice Girls, George Michael, Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears, with a huge playlist packed with the ultimate throwback anthems from the decade that produced some of the greatest records of all time.
Kevin Hughes will wake listeners up with the Heart 90s breakfast show, weekdays from 6am – 10am. The popular TV and radio presenter – who currently hosts Saturday afternoons on Heart – will turn up the 90s feel good across the nation every morning of the week.
James Rea, Managing Editor of Heart, commented:
