Doing the DAB: Cardiff event announced

Digital Radio UK and the Radio Academy Wales, in partnership with  Radio Today, are pleased to announce that the next in the popular series of free Doing the DAB events will take place in Cardiff on Thursday 5 October from 6- 8.30pm at The Chapel.

Doing the DAB: Cardiff will feature leading Cardiff and South Wales radio names celebrating  the growth of digital radio and discussing the future of radio in the area and the role of digital radio. The event is for anyone working in radio or with an interest in radio, and follows on from popular events in Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham.

Doing the DAB will be hosted by Neil Sloan, Radio Academy Wales Chair and Group Head of Programming and News at Communicorp UK. Confirmed speakers include Capital South Wales Breakfast presenter Mark Lissack; David Lloyd,  Radio Historian; Colin Paterson,  Editor at BBC Radio Wales; Betsan Powys, Editor at BBC Radio Cymru; and Jason Bryant, Executive Chairman at Nation Broadcasting. Additionally, Digital Radio UK’s CEO Ford Ennals will provide an overview on digital radio progress.

The event agenda will look at the current Welsh radio landscape,  including BBC, commercial and community stations; discover Wales’ greatest radio moment; the future of digital radio in Wales and in cars; and explore the demand for new stations in Wales, and the potential for the launch of a new local DAB multiplex or DAB mini-mux.

There will be a free welcome drink at 6pm before the session starts at 6.30pm, a  prize draw for a digital radio, and the opportunity to stay afterwards for networking and drinks.
